A born and bred Hongkonger, Alan is a former advertising creative turned educator in advertising design, drawing and visual aesthetics theory and skills. He joined the Hong Kong sketching groups Drawn Here and Sketch Hong Kong a few years ago, and fell in love with urban sketching. He is a “creative slashie”, a city sketcher and an illustrator.

Majored illustration at college. Upon graduation, Bon was an illustrator for children‘s magazines for a brief period of time, then the dots of life drew him into advertising. Then for many years, the fuzz and buzz of life pushed him away from painting.
In 2019, Bon bumped into few local sketching groups. It was an eye-opening experience to see the energy of contemporary city-scaping. The group of painter enthusiasts re-energized his love of sketching. As an aged greenhorn starting from ground zero, his very humble wish is to document small hearty scenes surrounding us, amongst a time of turbulence. Titled as #HKunderdrawing.
