• Origin: The Andean region of South America, including Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Colombia is one of the world's leading producers and exporters of golden berries.

• Appearance & Taste: The fruit is small and round, about 1–2 cm in diameter. When ripe, it turns golden yellow or orange-yellow. It is encased in a thin, papery, lantern‑like brown husk (the calyx). The flavor is sweet and tangy, often described as a combination of tomato and pineapple.

• How to Eat: Remove the husk and eat it raw. It is also commonly used in fruit salads, desserts, jams, or as a garnish for savory dishes.
